Damascus - MENA
The Syrian Network for Human Rights said 77 people were killed Tuesday by Syrian regime forces, mostly in Damascus and Rif Dimashq. Aljazeera news channel said on Wednesday that regime forces continued shelling several parts of Syria, while revolutionists took over towns in Hama, Deir ez-Zor and Daraa. Clashes are still going on in Damascus and Aleppo, Aljazeera said. Syria has been engulfed by violence since mid-March 2011, with deadly clashes between President Bashar al-Assad's forces and opposition fighters leaving thousands of people dead.
