Smoke billows following a reported airstrike by government forces on the northern Syrian city of Aleppo

The casualties from Russian airstrikes on Aleppo and Idlib have risen to 55 killed and 60 injured, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

At least 24 persons, including three children, were killed as Russian fighters targeted Aleppo with cluster bombs, the observatory said as reported by Sky News TV.

The number of dead is expected to rise due to the presence of critical injured cases, it said.

The airstrikes carried out by Russian jets on residential neighborhoods in Idlib left 31 persons killed, among them women and children, it added.
