UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is due to visit Nigeria next week. During the two-day visit, Ki-moon will meet with Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan and Nigerian government officials to discuss various issues, including health and sanitation, regional peace and security, and the situation in Libya. Nigeria’s contribution to UN peacekeeping operations and development related issues will also be discussed during the visit. Ban’s visit would be his first trip to Nigeria since he assumed office as Secretary General of the UN, 1 Jan 2007. He has been to other African countries, which include Malawi, Uganda, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Tanzania, Rwanda and South Africa.
