Lebanese singer Nawal Al-Zoghbi has a fan base across the Arab world, but there is one high profile fan she is particularly delighted about — US pop star Jennifer Lopez. Al-Zoghbi revealed on the Egyptian TV show “Every Friday,” hosted by Amr Adib, that the international singing sensation was impressed with one of her songs.
When Al-Zoghbi’s song “Ya Gada’a” caught Lopez’s attention on Instagram, the “Waiting for Tonight” singer immediately hit the “like” button.
Lopez reportedly watched the Arabic song based on the recommendation of Lebanese fashion designer Zuhair Murad.
With a musical career spanning over 25 years, Al-Zoghbi achieved popularity first by singing traditional Arabic music with a pop sensibility, and later singing in the Gulf dialect.
She capitalized on the popularity of music videos in Arab pop music in the ‘90s, which propelled her to local stardom in the Arab world.
Last year, it was reported that Al-Zoghbi was looking into starting her own Kim Kardashian style reality show on YouTube.
In 1990, she married Lebanese music manager Elie Deeb and went on to have three children with him. The couple legally separated in 2008. The singer recently said that she will not marry again as she is happy in her life and is able to take care of all her responsibilities, including that of her children.
