Shuddering explosion heard in central Baghdad

A shuddering explosion was heard in central Baghdad Tuesday.

The explosion was likely caused by a car bomb as plumes of smoke drifted high in the sky after hearing the sound, MENA correspondent said.

The size of damage and casualties is still unknown, the correspondent said.

The Iraqi capital has become a frequent scene of explosions and suicide bombings, mostly carried out by the Daesh terror group that aims at destabilizing Baghdad.

The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) said Baghdad - whose population stands at 7 million - recorded highest score of violence and terror victims in comparison with the rest of Iraqi governorates.
