Scores killed, injured in Baghdad's spate of explosions

At least nine Iraqis were killed and 30 others were injured when two separate explosions hit Sadr and al Shaab Shiite-majority districts northern Baghdad.

According to security sources and eyewitnesses, a car bomb exploded at a market in al Shaab district, leaving at least seven dead and 20 injured.

Meanwhile, another suicide attack took place in the same district, killing a soldier and injuring two other at a checkpoint, the sources added.

In Sadr, a third explosion of the day occurred when a motorcycle was blown up with explosives.

The blast left at least two dead and 10 wounded.

Monday's spate of attacks followed an announcement made by Iraqi commanders that their forces have entered Fallujah - a city located about 40 miles west of Baghdad - marking a major victory for the Iraqi forces in their fight against Daesh militants.
