Operations waged to hunt down Daesh sleeper cells in Iraq's Diyala

A series of operations has been waged to hunt down Daesh sleeper cells in northeastern Diyala, located in eastern Iraq, Tigris Operations Commander Mazhar al-Azzawi announced Saturday.

Iraqi joint security forces, backed by the Popular Mobilization Units, carried out the operations earlier in the day in east of Baqubah in Diyala, he said in press statements.

The operations come within the framework of the efforts aimed to comb any region, where Daesh sleeper cells are found in order to uproot terrorism and maintain security and stability, he noted.
