Iraqi security forces admit security breach in Karrada attack

Baghdad Operations Command on Thursday said that Karrada terrorist attack was due to a security breach.

“We admit the security breach," Baghdad Operations Command spokesman Saad Maan said in a press statement, pointing out that those who took part in such negligence were held accountable.

The car used in the attack was owned by a number of successive people, Maan said, pointing out that police is currently searching for the last owner.

Many of the attack’s victims have perished because of the flames and high heat that accompanied the bombing, the spokesman added.

The suicide bombing was carried out by a parked car bomb in central Karrada neighborhood, leaving 168 people dead and 185 others injured in addition to 81 unidentified charred bodies
