Iraqi forces, backed by the Iraqi air forces and the international coalition, started an operation to liberate Anbar province's Hit district in western Iraq that was seized by Daesh militants.

The news was announced on Thursday by the Iraqi military media office.

Earlier, the Iraqi forces had liberated Mohammadi area, east of Hit district, of Daesh elements.
