Iraqi rapid response forces gather

Iraq's Counter-terrorism Service forces Saturday took control of a new Daesh-held district in the left coast in eastern Mosul.

After recapturing al Ghofran district, Iraqi forces raised the flag over its buildings, said Commander of 'We are coming, Nineveh' Operation Abdel Ami Yar Allah.

The federal police- affiliate rapid reaction forces controlled the faculty of medicine and two hospitals, the commander stated.

He added that a Daesh control center in the left coast, a communication center as well as two prisons were found by the Iraqi troops there.

The latest Iraqi forces' victory rises the number of retaken Daeh-held districts to 11 since the start of the second phase of operation to liberate Mosul on December 28.

Last week, Iraqi forces announced that they have recaptured 40 districts, out of the 56 Deash- controlled districts in eastern Mosul, during the first phase of the operation that came to an end on December 15.
