Joint Iraqi forces were capable of recapturing eight villages and districts in Mosul city from Daesh terrorist group's grip, said a statement by the Military Media Cell.
The forces attacked al Shura area and freed villages of Bohamed and Ain Nasr and raised the Iraqi flag following exploding five booby-trapped cars and killing many Daesh militants, it added.
Units of the Iraqi army controlled four villages in Mosul city and raised the Iraqi flag, according to the statement.
Two other villages in southeastern Mosul were also liberated.
