French Jets Start Sorties to Strike Daesh in Iraq From Charles de Gaulle Ship

French Rafale fighters on Friday started sorties from the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier in the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea to strike the Daesh terrorist group targets in Iraq, the Russian news agency Sputnik reported.

Earlier this month, the ship left the port of Toulon to take a position in eastern Mediterranean. The ship is carrying 24 Rafale jets.

The ship deployment is the third time Charles de Gaulle is on combat duty as part of the anti-Daesh operations.

France is part of the US-led coalition fighting Daesh group, outlawed in many countries including the United States and Russia.
