5 soldiers killed, injured northwestern Iraq

A suicide bomber detonated an explosive belt he was wearing at a checkpoint affiliated with the Iraqi army northwestern Baghdad, killing and injuring five soldiers, Spokesman for Baghdad Operation Command brigadier Saad Ma'an said.

The seven-million-citizen Iraqi capital has been hit by suicide attacks, booby trapped cars and explosive belts attacks by Daesh militants every now and then.

According to UNAMI, Baghdad has the highest number of violence and terrorism victims across Iraq.
