Six people were killed and 18 injured Sunday when a suicide bomber belt blew himself up at a gathering of Iraqi citizens in western Baghdad.

The suicide bomber wore an explosives belt, Baghdad Operations Command spokesman Saad Maan said in a press statement citing a preliminary toll of 24 casualties.

The Iraqi capital has recently been hit by a wave of explosions and suicide attacks carried out by Daesh militants to destabilize the country.
