The blast killed at least 17 people, while as thirteen people were also wounded.

Two car blasts were reported Sunday in Tikrit and Samarra provinces of Iraq, leaving 17 people dead and dozens others wounded.

One of the explosions targeted a security checkpoint in Tikrit, while the other occurred at a garage targeting a Shiite gathering, security sources said.

The injured, including Iranians, were carried to hospital for treatment.

A curfew was imposed in the two cities to prevent any possible attack that may be carried out by the terrorist Daesh group, the sources said.
