Benghazi

A Libyan non-commissioned officer was killed and three soldiers were injured in battles between the Libyan army and the Shura Council of Benghazi Revolutionaries, a coalition of Islamist armed groups, at Benghazi naval base on Monday, a military spokesman said.
The victims fell as Ansar Al-Sharia militiamen attacked the naval base, Col. Ahmad Al-Mesmari told KUNA this evening, noting that a decommissioned vessel was damaged by the attack.
"Ansar Al-Sharia suffered heavy human and material losses in the ongoing hostilities," he affirmed.
"The Libyan army has besieged militiamen of the Libya Shield - another member of the Shura Council, in Souq Al-Hout area and in the vicinity of October 6 Hospital in Benghazi where fighting is still raging," Col. Al-Mesmari pointed out.
He added that the escalating violence in Benghazi in the last few days left at least seven fatalities and dozens of injured people.
