Libyan forces allied with the U.N.-backed government look at Islamic State fighters' positions before a battle in Sirte, Libya

The Libyan forces aligned with a UN-backed government in Tripoli said Saturday that it killed around 68 members of the terrorist Daesh group over the last two days. 

Field operations room in Sirte made the remarks in a statement, saying a unit engaged in a ground battle with the terrorist group and pushed them out of the city. 

The statement expected that forces would achieve victory very soon after heavy losses suffered by the group. 

The government forces made all precautions before entering the city to maintain safety of civilians, the statement said.

In the meantime, Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous military group, which is appointed by the UN-brokered Government of National Accord, said it made progress over the last few days on the seaside part of the city and ready to clean it from Daesh hideouts.
