Two persons including an anti-Taliban tribal elder were gunned down by suspected militants Wednesday morning in a northern Pakistani district, said police.
The incident took place in Tank district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.
Amir Shahabudin Burki, anti-Taliban tribal elder, was sitting in the drawing room of his house with his friend when two unknown gunmen forcefully entered and opened fire at them, police sources told Kuwaiti News Agency KUNA.
They said the tribal elder and his friend died on the spot, adding, the assailants managed to escape.
Burki was the head of Tank Peace Committee, formed to help government fight Taliban in the area.
