Lynchburg - UPI
Country music artist Randy Howard was killed during a shootout with a bounty hunter at his home in Lynchburg, Tenn.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation told Fox News it is still investigating Tuesday night's incident, which left the 65-year-old musician dead.
Entertainment Weekly quoted the TBI as saying Howard allegedly fired a weapon at the bounty hunter, who then shot and killed Howard.
The bounty hunter was wounded as he attempted to detain Howard for fourth-offense driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm while intoxicated and driving on a revoked license, EW said.
The identity of the bounty hunter and the nature of his injuries were not immediately reported.
Fox News said Howard had performed with Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Hank Williams Jr., and penned songs for Hank Williams III, throughout his career.
