Penelope Cruz's father, Eduardo Cruz, died at age 62 this week.

Eduardo Cruz's brother-in-law confirmed the news to HOLA! magazine Thursday morning. The father-of-four had a history of heart problems, and is said to have died of a suspected heart attack.

Eduardo Cruz is survived by second wife Carmen Moreno and their three-year-old daughter Salma. He and Moreno married in Apr. 2014 after 12 years together, and managed a hair and beauty salon in La Manga, Spain.

The salon manager was previously wed to Encarna Sanchez, with whom he had three children: Penelope Cruz, Monica Cruz and Eduardo Cruz, Jr. Monica Cruz is a TV actress in Spain, while Eduardo Cruz, Jr., is a musician.

Cruz was reportedly filming Zoolander 2 when she received word of her father's death. The actress immediately made plans to return to Spain, and sister Monica Cruz also canceled a scheduled appearance.
