Out as the first gay pro-football player, Michael Sam, 25, has reportedly split from his fiancé.
Sam who plays defensive end for the Montreal Alouettes, was recently away from the team for two weeks according to the New York Daily News. Sam cited personal reasons for his absence, though social media tells a different story.
It looks like six months after getting engaged Sam and his fiancé Vito Cammisano have split. Entertainment Tonight is reporting that photos of Cammisano and Sam have disappeared from Sam's Instagram. Though Cammisano still has up a photo of the two on Twitter as his profile picture.
US Weekly had also reported that things had been rocky between the two recently. Last year Sam had said Cammisano was the reason he came out, during his acceptance speech at the ESPY Awards.
Sam and Cammisano had been dating since 2011, while they were both attending the University of Missouri. The pair had shared what was called the most famous same-sex kiss after Sam had been drafted to the St. Louis Rams last year.
While Cammisano hasn't officially said anything about the split, he recently made a comment to CBC Sports about the same-sex marriage ruling saying "My focus is on football. That can wait."
