Dustin Diamond

Dustin Diamond was sentenced to 120 days in jail Thursday.

The 38-year-old actor will be incarcerated and receive 15 months probation for two misdemeanors related to his barroom stabbing incident in December 2014. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports he will likely be granted work release privileges.

Diamond was found guilty of carrying a concealed weapon and disorderly conduct with a concealed weapon in May, but cleared of felony reckless endangerment charges. The actor was accused of stabbing Casey Smet during an altercation involving fiancée Amanda Schutz.

"Let me express just how sorry I am," he said in court, according to Fox 6 News. "Even though my intentions were solely to defend a loved one, they nevertheless were the cause of the single most terrifying experience of my entire life."

Diamond is best known for portraying Samuel "Screech" Powers on NBC sitcom Saved by the Bell. The actor alienated himself from his former co-stars by releasing tell-all book Behind the Bell in 2009, and was not invited to a cast reunion on The Tonight Show in February.
