Nearly a month after the death of legendary Frankie Knuckles, Chicago has lost another local house music hero. DJ Rashad, born Rashad Harden, was found dead Saturday at his home on Chicago's South Side. He was 35. Officials told the Sun-Times that Harden's body was found near drug paraphernalia, leading police to suspect a drug overdose. Harden is a well-known pioneer of footwork, a fast-paced dance style that originated from Chicago's house music scene. R.I.P. to my long time friend DJ Rashad. Great friend & producer. I loved all the music we released over the years. U will be missed!— DJ Godfather (@DJ_Godfather) April 27, 2014 He recently wrapped up a 2013 tour with Chance the Rapper, who took to Twitter on Saturday to remember his friend and colleague. "Music lost a legend today. And he was my friend. Love you DJ Rashad. RIP," he wrote. An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday.
