The body of a 21-year-old man was discovered early Sunday at Demi Moore's house, but authorities say the actress was not at home at the time and foul play is not suspected.
TMZ reported the man apparently did not know how to swim and is believed to have drowned when he slipped and fell in the pool.
The man was at a party thrown Saturday night by the property's caretaker while Moore was out of town.
"From what I understand it was a staff member," Sgt. A. Bone told the Los Angeles Times.
Officers responding to the scene reportedly questioned five people, including a maid who worked for Moore. Investigation into the matter is ongoing.
The caretaker reportedly left the man alone at the house and returned to find him unresponsive at the bottom of the pool.
Moore is the ex-wife of actors Ashton Kutcher and Bruce Willis, and the mother of Dancing with the Stars champion Rumer Willis. Her film credits include St. Elmo's Fire, About Last Night, Ghost, GI Jane and A Few Good Men.
