David Bowie says new music is on the way.
The 67-year-old musician made the announcement in a written statement read at a charity event over the weekend. He did not attend the affair in person, but sent signed items to be auctioned off and a welcome message for fans.
"This city is even better than the one you were in last year, so remember to dance, dance, dance," he wrote. "And then sit down for a minute, knit something, then get up and run all over the place. Do it. Love on ya. More music soon. David."
Bowie released his twenty-fourth studio album, The Next Day, after a ten-year hiatus in 2013. Many believed he had retired due to the long delay and secrecy surrounding the record. The album included the single "Where Are We Now?" and was well-received by fans and critics. The musician has sold more than 140 million albums during his career.
