Alexandra Reeve Givens, the daughter of late film star Christopher Reeve, has named her newborn son Christopher Russel Reeve Givens.
The baby's June 13 birth in Washington was announced this weekend. The child is the first for Givens and her husband Garren.
"He was named after his grandfathers on each side, two very important role models for Garren and Alexandra," a family representative told People magazine Friday. "The entire family is thriving during their first few weeks home."
Givens is the 31-year-old daughter of Reeve and Gae Exton. She works as a senior counsel in the U.S. Senate and is an adjunct professor at Columbia Law School. Her 33-year-old spouse serves in the Obama administration as the director of the Presidential Innovation Fellows program.
Best known for his portrayal of Superman in several 1970s and '80s blockbusters, Reeve became a quadriplegic in 1995 when he was thrown from a horse. He required a wheelchair and a portable ventilator for the rest of his life and died of a heart attack in 2004. He was 52.
