Protests against the government decision to increase fuel prices have continued in a number of areas in the Kingdom. In Irbid, some 80 kilometers north of Amman, protesters took to the streets to protest the decision, closing roads and causing damage to public properties. The Gendarmerie used teargas to disperse the protesters after they caused vandalism. Also in Irbid’s Bani Kenana District, riots and vandalism erupted, where protesters set alight a governmental vehicle and damaged traffic lights. In the southern city of Aqaba, citizens organized a demonstration to protest the fuel price hikes. They urged the government to look for options other than their “pockets”. Riot and vandalism also erupted in other areas across the Kingdom, according to Public Security Department (PSD).
