A mini European summit bringing together leaders from France, Germany, Italy and Spain as well as EU officials would be held here on Thursday morning, the Elysee Palace said in a brief statement late on Wednesday. The working meeting will take place at 10:30 local time at Palais des Festival et des Congres in Cannes, where heads of the world’s leading 20 economies will gather for the G20 summit slated for Thursday and Friday. Earlier report by local television channel BFM said the Thursday meeting will focus on the Greek debt problem, which threatened to unravel the latest crisis-fighting aid package spelled out only last week, after Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou threw out a surprise call for referendum on Tuesday.
