Iran Foreign Ministry official Hassan Qashqavi proposed removal of visas among member states of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO). Addressing the opening ceremony of the first meeting of the Civil Registration Organizations of the ECO member states in Tehran on Monday, Qashqavi said that as the deputy for the Iranian Foreign Ministry for consular, parliament and Iranians abroad affairs he proposed establishment of a consular committee among the ECO members. Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are the members of the Economic Cooperation Organization. He said the task could be started by removing visas for diplomatic and service passports and then spread to all kinds of visas after a while. The official said that ECO member states shared certain features dwelling upon which could pave the way for their further development and prosperity. Referring to consular cooperation as one of the major areas of collaboration in ECO, he further noted that exchange of information among member states and fighting faked documents should serve as the focal points of the present gathering.
