The International Monetary Fund (IMF) will announce key details of the analytic chapters of the Global Financial Report on September 13 in Washington, the intergovernmental organization said on Friday . The Fund will announce the key chapters of the World Economic Outlook (WEO) the next day, Acting Director of the External Relations Department at the IMF Gerry Rice said. The next two weeks are crucial for the IMF as its Annual Meetings are due September 22. The outcomes of these meetings is crucial in the light of the sovereign debt crisis, Greece programme issues and capital needs in Europe. The Fund’s Economic Counsellor and Director of the Research Department Olivier Blanchard will present the two forecast chapters of the World Economic Outlook on September 20. On the same day the IMF will launch of the Fiscal Monitor document by the Director of the Fiscal Affairs Department Carlo Cottarelli. The next day, the IMF’s Financial Counsellor and Director of the Monetary and Capital Markets Department Jose Vinals, will present the main chapter of the Global Financial Stability Report. New Managing Director Christine Lagarde will hold her first Annual Meetings media conference to review the issues under discussion at the meetings. On September 23, the Annual Meetings will open officially with the plenary and the gathering of the Fund and the Bank’s shareholders in Washington. The International Monetary and Finance Committee (IMFC), the Fund’s policy steering body, will hold its meeting on September 24. The IMFC will discuss the current economic developments and review the Fund’s mandate and role in light of those developments, the institutional framework, lending instruments and surveillance capabilities, Rice said.
