Chinese stocks closed mixed on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.18%, at 3,142.55 points. 
The smaller Shenzhen index closed 0.35% lower at 9,941.55 points, state news agency (Xinhua) reported. 
The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.38% to close at 1,861.22 points.
