Holidays giant Thomas Cook has appointed an executive from outside the travel industry to lead its turnaround strategy. Harriet Green, who is currently the boss of Leeds-based electrocomponents distributor Premier Farnell, will take the helm on July 30. Thomas Cook said Ms Green\'s experience of driving business transformation plans was an important factor in her appointment. The appointment of the 50-year-old, a member of the Prime Minister\'s Government Business Advisory Group, received a positive response in the City as Cook\'s shares rose 7%.
