Hyundai Steel is working with Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Motors Corp., South Korea's two largest carmakers, to develop light alloy materials for use in future vehicles, sources said Friday.
The cooperative effort comes as carmakers are turning to aluminum to make vehicles lighter in weight. Less weight translates into better fuel economy and enhanced driving characteristic.
