Italian automaker Fiat foresees better end-of-the-year results than in 2011, company president John Elkann said Wednesday. In an interview with Italian weekly Panorama, Elkann said the positve results came despite the fact that the \"Italian (car) market is back down to levels last seen 40 years ago\". Fiat reported a slump in sales on the sluggish European market of 20% in August and July. The company warned in July that it may have to close one of its plants in Italy if weak demand on the European auto market continues.
