The National Health Insurance Company - Daman is launching its biggest annual blood donation drive. Running for the sixth consecutive year, the drive will run for 8 days and is open to the general public. The drive will be for two days in Al Ain (6-7 March 2013), five days across Abu Dhabi (10-14 March 2013) and one day in Dubai on 16 March 2013. The 8-day donation drive is the biggest by Daman since it started in 2008. Dr. Jad Aoun, Chief Medical Officer at Daman, said “Donating blood is a safe and simple process and the entire procedure takes no longer than 45 minutes and is actually beneficial to the donor health wise, a fact that many are not aware of. Moreover, one unit of blood can save as many as three lives.” Dr. Aoun added “We have encouraged our employees and the general public for a long time to donate blood. We want to make a difference to the lives of patients in need, and this is the first time that our drive is held for 8 days.”   The blood donation drive will have eight stops at the Daman branches in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Dubai and will be open daily from 9am to 3pm.
