Tehran - FNA
Vietnamese Ambassador to Tehran Negvin Hung Tach in a meeting with Khorassan Razavi Governor General Alireza Rashidian in Mashhad, Northeastern Iran, on Sunday called for the expansion of mutual cooperation with Iran, specially in economic and trade fields.
"Broadening the relations paves the way for upgrading the economic indices of the two countries," the Vietnamese ambassador said during the meeting.
He further ensured that exchange of economic and trade delegations would result in the broadening of bilateral ties.
"Vietnam is ready to invest in Iran's tourism industry and handicrafts, including Mashhad carpet industry," Negvin said.
The Khorassan Razavi governor general, for his part, pointed to the age-old relations between Iran and Vietnam, and said, "The Iran-Vietnam economic ties can be expanded by making use of the existing capacities."
In October, a Vietnamese economic delegation and local officials of Iran's Khorramshahr and Abadan port cities discussed ways to bolster trade and investment cooperation.
In a meeting between Deputy Head of the Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce Nguyen Bac Ha and Governor Valiollah Hayati, the two officials discussed the possibilities of an agreement to attract Vietnamese investments in both cities’ of Abadan and Khorramshahr. Ha said that, after 40 years, Iran and Vietnam had signed a trade agreement. “Khorramshahr and Abadan are a good venue for quick-return investment; production lines of dress and sea food is two sectors Vietnam could invest in these port cities to export the products to neighboring countries,” he added.
Ha said the operation of 500,000 private firms and companies in Vietnam's economic sector provides a good ground and opportunity for trade between Iran and Vietnam.
