US Department of Defense

The US Department of Defense announced that it allocated 1.6 billion dollars to train and support the Iraqi forces against Daesh group.
The aid is part of a budget called for by the administration of US President Barack Obama to eliminate Daesh group, said
US Department of Defense Press Secretary Rear Admiral John Kirby.
He also said that the White House approved to send up to 1,500 additional US troops to Iraq, roughly doubling the force the US has built up since June to fight Daesh group, which control much of Iraq and Syria.
Obama authorized airstrikes on Daesh targets in Iraq in mid-August after Washington’s interests were threatened in the crisis-hit country.
