Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Kozak on Wednesday announced increased funding for road improvements across Ukraine this year. \"Investment in the development of road infrastructure this year will reach 2.25 billion U.S. dollars,\" Kozak told reporters. The new budget more than doubles the previous spending plan of 900 million dollars. Kozak said the funds will be used to repair roads and build new infrastructure, particularly bridges. Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said in March that Ukraine needs about 62.5 billion dollars to repair nearly 170,000 kilometers of outdated roads.
