Industrial production in Turkey increased by 2.3 percent in January 2013 compared with the previous month and by 1.9 percent compared with the same month last year, according to Turkey\'s statistical institute (TurkStat). TurkStat on Friday announced the industrial production index (based on 2010=100) for January 2013. Calendar adjusted industrial production index increased by 2.3 percent in January 2013, compared with the previous month. In the sub sectors of the industry, mining and quarrying increased by 0.3 percent, manufacturing increased by 2.7 percent and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply index increased by 0.5 percent compared to December 2012. Calendar adjusted industrial index increased by 1.9 percent in January 2013, compared with the same month last year. In the sub sectors of the industry, mining and quarrying decreased by 3.6 percent, manufacturing increased by 3.2 percent and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply index decreased by 3.2 percent compared to January 2012. According to the Main Industrial Groupings (MIGs) classification, the largest increase in the production index was in intermediate goods (3.3%) in January 2013, compared with the previous month.
