The Spanish annual inflation rate stood at 0.2 percent in May, according to data of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) published on Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
The rate was 0.2 percentage point lower than the annual inflation rate of April when prices increased by 0.4 percent in Spain.
Prices of food and non-alcoholic drinks fell by 0.8 percent year-on-year because of lower prices of vegetables, potatoes and oils.
Prices of items related to leisure and culture fell by 1.1 percent due to lower prices of holiday packages. Prices of hotels, coffees and restaurants increased, however, by 0.5 percent in May, the INE said.
Finally, transport prices increased by 0.8 percent because of higher prices of fuel and lubricants.
