Abdul Rahman Saif Al Ghurair, Chairman, Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), received on Sunday a Council of Granada delegation headed by its President Jesus Perez Sebastian Ortiz, during their visit of Dubai to promote investment opportunities in their economic, cultural and touristic destination located in southern Spain. Seeking a stronger two-way trade and investment between Granada and Dubai business communities, the delegation was accompanied by a number of government officials and business leaders from Granada Province, while the meeting was attended by Majed Hamad R Al Shamsi, 1st Vice-Chairman, and Hamad Buamim, Director General, Dubai Chamber. Welcoming the delegation, Al Ghurair said that this first visit by the Council of Granada official delegation will help consolidate bilateral ties and open up new channels of cooperation between the two sides. Al Ghurair stressed on DCCI’s commitment in providing all the support and facilities to the development of Granada Province businesses in the emirate and called upon their provincial companies to benefit from the vast investment opportunities available here as well as to work towards enhancing trade ties with their counterparts in Dubai. In his presentation, Hamad Buamim, Director General, Dubai Chamber, highlighted Dubai’s status as an excellent re-export hub offering world-class logistical and infrastructural services to traders from Granada wanting to reach major consumer markets in the Middle East, South East Asia and Africa. He also shed light on areas of investment opportunities including modern trading and tourism sectors that stimulate economic growth while highlighting the emirate’s economic outlook as well as the potential areas of joint cooperation for Dubai and Granada businesses. The Director General of Dubai Chamber urged Spanish companies to come to Dubai and invest in its promising sectors, which he said will lead to successful economic partnerships between the two sides. On his part Jesus Perez Sebastian Ortiz, President of the Council of Granada, lauded the exemplary growth of Dubai as a global business center offering world-class trading facilities to a cross-section of multi-cultural businesses and expressed his hope of working closely with the emirate for the economic prosperity of the two sides. Members of the Granada delegation including a representative of Hispania Airways expressed his airline’s interest in partnering with leading Dubai airlines due to the emirate’s strategic location as an East meets West destination on which Dubai Chamber assured him of bringing his airline face to face with Emirates and flydubai for a strong partnership in the airline industry. The delegation also stressed on their country’s touristic attractions while seeking investments in marine projects, ports, ski resorts and Alhambra area and other touristic spots. A representative of Kurotec sought DCCI’s assistance in providing contacts from its vast membership base and support in reaching out to investors in the region for his company’s engineering products including FRP tubes and vessels, duroplastic and thermoplastic processing as well as apparatus engineering, coatings and assembly work.
