South Korean carmakers increased production in the first quarter of this year fueled by rises in domestic and overseas demand, a report showed Friday, though their global market share was not growing as promisingly. According to the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association (KAMA), local original car equipment manufacturers produced 1,154,853 vehicles in the January-March period, up 3.7 percent from the year before. Of the total, 337,587 vehicles were sold in the country, a gain of 4.3 percent, while exports edged up 1.1 percent to 788,957 units.
