President Abdel Fattah El Sisi issued on Thursday a decree approving letters exchanged between the Egyptian and Italian governments over a 800,000-euro Italian grant to rehabilitate the Museum of Islamic Art.
The grant agreement was signed by Egypt and Italy in March of 2016.
The decree was published in the gazette out Thursday.
Egypt's Museum of Islamic Art was reopened In January 2017, three years after it was badly damaged by a car bomb that blew up outside a nearby police headquarters.
The Italian government contributed 800,000 euros to purchase new display cases and provide training courses to the museum’s curators.
