Parliament Speaker Ali Abdel Aal on Thursday stressed the importance of strengthening the German investment opportunities in Egypt. 

Abdel Aal made the remarks in a meeting with Germany's head of the ruling Democratic Union Volcker Cawdor and his accompanying delegation.

The speaker of the Egyptian parliament highlighted the importance of promoting relations and cooperation in all political and social fields between the Egyptian parliament and the German Bundestag. 

The parliament will form the Egyptian-German Friendship Association upon the formation of specialized committees at the Egyptian house, Abdel Aal noted. The Egyptian speaker also asserted that Egypt is a defense shield in face of any terrorist groups that could cross the Mediterranean Sea to reach Europe.

Cawdor, for his part, congratulated Egypt for electing the parliament and completing the future roadmap 

The German lawmaker stressed his country's keenness on supporting the Egyptian economy and therefore a high-ranking German economic delegation is set to visit Egypt on April 16 to make serious steps in this regard. 

Abdel Aal invited the Bundestag speaker to visit Cairo and the Egyptian parliament.
