The Minister of Oil Engineer Makkawi Mohamed Awad has stressed that his ministry has been exerting great efforts to preserve the oil environment at the areas of oil production, refinery and export in collaboration with Norway.
He referred, when he met with the delegation of the Norwegian Environment Agency Wednesday at his office, to the treatment of water extracted from the petroleum, the environment monitoring and environmental waste management.
The meeting discussed the Programme of Environment and Safety Management at the areas of petroleum, in the presence of the staff of the General Administration of Environment, Safety and Hygiene at the ministry.
Engineer Awad lauded the Efforts and experiences of Norway which it has been rendering to the Sudanese Oil sector, asserting continuity of cooperation with the Norwegian experts for environment preservation.
The Chairwomen of the Norwegian delegation, for her part, praised environment at the coast of Red Sea, where the delegation paid visit to the Red Sea State during which it inspected Bashair port 1,2 and met with Sea Port Corporation and Faculty of Marine Sciences at the University of the Red Sea.
The Director General of the General Administration of Environment, Safety and Hygiene at the Ministry of Petroleum Prof. Siddiq Issa presented full explanation on the efforts exerted by the Norwegian team and the staff of the administration within the framework of the programme of environmental monitoring at the areas of petroleum.
