The nominee to be the new tax chief said Monday that tax audits will not be used as a means to expand revenue despite worries of a possible shortage in government income caused by slowing economic growth.
"It is difficult to raise money for revenue shortages through tax investigations... We will not use tax audits as a means to expand tax revenue," Lim Hwan-soo, the nominee for chief of the National Tax Service, told lawmakers at his confirmation hearing.
