Moscow - Itar-Tass
Russia does not plan to alter its import substitution plan for the national defense industry even if the West lifts its sanctions against Moscow, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said on Tuesday.
“Regardless of whether Western sanctions are eased or even lifted, we will make no changes to the import substitution plan for the military-industrial complex,” Rogozin wrote on his Twitter microblog.
Rogozin said earlier the import substitution plan consisted of two stages. The first stage envisaged measures to substitute imports of Ukrainian industrial products designed for Russian defense enterprises following Kiev’s ban on military cooperation with Russia over the events in Ukraine.
The second stage of the plan was connected with the response to the sanctions announced by the West.
The Defense Ministry as the key customer and the key interested party supervises the plan implementation and compiles reports on the plan weekly.
