Latvia's gross domestic product (GDP) in the first nine months of this year grew 2.5 percent compared to the same period last year, the Latvian National Statistics Office reported Friday.
Retail trade grew by 3.4 percent, including a 2.6 percent rise in retail sales of automotive fuel. There was a 4.3 percent increase in food sales and a 2.9 percent increase in sales of non-food products.
The increase in the transport sector was driven by the turnover growth in road transport. There was a 4 percent growth in freight transportation and 6 percent growth in passenger transportation.
Export of goods increased by 3.2 percent but export of services reduced by 6.4 percent. Import of goods dropped by 0.5 percent while import of services by 4 percent.
