Kazakhstan and Japan have signed a package of agreements on cooperation in nuclear power engineering and in the oil and gas sector, Kaznex Invest’s press service reported on Monday. The documents were signed upon completion of the visit to Japan by Kazakhstani Vice-Prime Minister Aset Isekesheyev, the press service said. Thus, the National Nuclear Centre signed memorandums on mutual understanding with Japan’s Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) and the Japan Atomic Power Company (JAPC). The memorandums will make it possible to solve such problems as training of personnel, the participation in working out feasibility studies, cooperation in building and launching nuclear power plants and others, the press service quoted by Russian news agency Itar-tass said. Kaznex Invest signed two documents: a memorandum with CHIYODA CONSULTING to provide support for producing molybdenum powder and plates with the capacity of 120 tonnes per year and an agreement on energy cooperation with Sumimoto Corporation, the press service said. Kazakhstan’s DALA MINING and Japan’s ITOCHU Corporation signed an agreement, which envisages working out a joint project to develop and process tungsten- molybdenum ore at the Kokten-Kol deposit, Karaganda Province, the press service said. Kazakhstan’s KSP Steel and Japanese partners agreed to develop the oil and gas sector and increase steel export on the global market.
