The joint Sino-Egyptian trade committee wound up its sixth session here under the chairmanship of Industry and Trade Undersecretary Mohammad Ahmed Abel Aziz Dawoud and the Chinese trade and industry deputy minister.
The two sides discussed means of promoting Chinese investments to Egypt, especially in the fields of infrastructure, new and renewable energy, transport, petroleum as well as the Suez Canal Development Corridor and other vital fields.
Joint relations have witnessed a notable development over the past year. The volume of trade exchange reached dlrs 10.3 billion, up by 8.4 percent than the volume registered in 2012.
Egypt exports to China estimated at dlrs 1.9 billion with 46 percent increase, whereas Chinese exports to Egypt hit dlrs 8.4 billion.
The number of Chinese companies operating in Egypt reached 1,198 with total investments of dlrs 468.5 million and they are mainly focused in the industrial sector and supplies.
